# Industry Reports

Reports by Audience Strategies for the industries we work in: the numbers an industry uses to make its case, published in the open and free to read.

We are part of these industries, not just observers of them. We co-founded the [Entertainment Analytics Conference](https://audiencestrategies.com/conferences.html#entertainment-analytics), we host the [TMRE Insights Executive Retreat](https://audiencestrategies.com/conferences.html#tmre-executive-retreat) and we run [AudienceCON](https://audiencestrategies.com/conferences.html#audiencecon). The reports are the other half of that work. The conferences are where an industry talks; the reports are where we write down what it knows, with the evidence, for anyone to use.

## Music and nightlife

Economic, cultural and fairness questions for electronic music, nightlife and music technology, mostly commissioned by the bodies that speak for those industries.

### The UK Electronic Music Report (annual since 2023, with NTIA)

Commissioned each year by the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), this is the annual study of the value of electronic music to the UK: its economics, its venues and artists, its audiences and its cultural impact. Four editions so far, each published in February.

### For the Record: Victoria's Vinyl Economy (2025 and 2026, for VMDO)

Two studies by Audience Strategies for the Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO). Part 1 mapped Victoria's vinyl ecosystem: 119 independent record stores, two pressing plants, and more record stores per head in Melbourne than in London, Berlin or Tokyo. Part 2 followed the money artists make selling vinyl direct to fans, at gigs, on Bandcamp and by mail order, which brings Victorian labels about 59% of their vinyl income. ## Audiences, insight and AI

What is changing for the people whose job is to understand audiences: our own predictions, what insight leaders say to each other off the record, a weekly read on AI from our sister practice Steadman, and the case studies that show the work itself.

### How AI Will Transform Audience Understanding by 2030 (January 2025, our report)

Ten calls on how language models will change the way organisations understand their audiences, with a scorecard, updated in October 2026, of how each call is landing. [The calls and the scorecard](https://audiencestrategies.com/2030-vision.html) · [Download the report](https://audiencestrategies.com/downloads/How%20AI%20Will%20Transform%20Audience%20Understanding%20by%202030%20(January%202025).pdf)

### What insight leaders talk about off the record (October 2026, with Informa and LIONS)

Six TMRE Insights Executive Retreats, 2022 to 2026, read side by side: how the conversation moved from the machines to insight's seat where decisions are made. With notes from each retreat. [Read the analysis](https://audiencestrategies.com/case-studies/tmre-executive-retreats.html)

### Saturday AI Thoughts (every Saturday, from our sister practice Steadman)

David Boyle's weekly email on language models and how they change knowledge work: an essay, practical tips and the week's news, sent to more than 1,000 senior executives. Many of the 2030 Vision scorecard's quotes come from it. [Read and subscribe on steadman.ai](https://steadman.ai/newsletters/david)

### Our case studies

The work itself: who should front a campaign, what a comeback is worth, who belongs in the room, and how AI turns a question into evidence. Plus Anthropic's and Otter.ai's own stories of how we use their tools. [See all our case studies](https://audiencestrategies.com/case-studies/)

## Where the reports meet the rooms

The reports and the conferences feed each other. What we hear in the room shapes the next report, and the reports give the room something to argue with.

* **[Entertainment Analytics Conference](https://audiencestrategies.com/conferences.html#entertainment-analytics)**: co-founded in 2016. Senior data and analytics people from media, music and games, invitation only.
* **[TMRE Insights Executive Retreat](https://audiencestrategies.com/conferences.html#tmre-executive-retreat)**: hosted by David Boyle for Informa and LIONS since 2022. Insight leaders from large brands, off the record.
* **[AudienceCON](https://audiencestrategies.com/conferences.html#audiencecon)**: our one-day conference on audience intelligence, first held in London in 2023.

## Need the evidence for your industry's case?

Most of these reports began with an industry body that needed numbers it could stand behind. If you have a question like that, talk to Rufy Anam Ghazi, Head of Music Research ([rufy@audiencestrategies.com](mailto:rufy@audiencestrategies.com)), or email [hello@audiencestrategies.com](mailto:hello@audiencestrategies.com) about a report outside music.
